Confessions Northern Soul Night
So a couple of months back I sent a DM to Get Sneaky Events Service on Instagram. After meeting up and discussing a few things they invited me along to a night they were hosting at Confessions Cafe, Bar & Events in Burton Upon Trent.
The night was called Confession of the Soul and was to do with Northern Soul Dancing. Now the music went over my head but there was a lot of smiles and dancing also it was the first time I got asked what news paper I work for. Confessions is a lovely place that is quiet hidden for where it is. With a bar and cafe area it is inviting for all kinds of people. It is a great small venue and even have little offices that people rent out as a working space.
With hot desks up stairs its the perfect venue for all kinds of stuff. From business and corporate stuff, to having a natter with some friends to a night of Northern Soul. The night was challenging as apparently my batteries decided they didn't want to work anymore. Not even the extra spare batteries I took with me, so in total I had 12 batteries and had to rotate them round to fine a configuration that gave me power. These 12 batteries ended up in the bin as soon as I left.
As I am new to the events photography game I love little hick ups like this as I can learn now instead of shooting some giant corporate event, I agreed with Get Sneaky to sell images to them as I was just starting out and didn't have much of a portfolio in this genre. They were really pleases with the images that I was proud of after the stress the batteries caused as well as having literally no light on the dance floor. This was tricky as my camera could not focus on the movement quick enough in the dark.
Not to worry as the clients were please with the imagery and thats what means the most! It's amazing how far a message can go! Do not ever be afraid to ask! Also bring spare batteries and having a roll of tape always helps!
